Lithium Marine Battery Replacement for Lead-Acid Systems

CoPow Marine Lithium Battery series
CoPow’s Marine-Grade Lithium Battery line is organized based on actual seafaring needs.
The core of the lineup is the Deep Cycle Series. These batteries come in a full range of specifications, including 12V, 24V, and 48V lithium batteries for yachts. They are designed for stability, providing consistent power for onboard lighting, navigation systems, and appliances to ensure a reliable lifestyle at sea.
For electric propulsion, CoPow offers a High-Voltage Series. By using series and parallel configurations, these batteries deliver the higher power output required to drive electric outboards or inboard motors, making them the primary choice for medium to long-distance travel.
For anglers, there are lithium batteries for fishing boats. Since the marine environment can be harsh, these batteries feature enhanced sealing to resist salt spray and a reinforced internal structure to handle heavy vibrations and jolts in rough waters.
Beyond standard models, CoPow also provides custom lifepo4 Battery solutions for specialized vessels. By integrating a smart BMS, they can tailor the battery dimensions and voltage to fit specific engine rooms or cabins.
| Product Line | Voltage / Configuration | Typical Applications | Key Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deep Cycle Series | 12V / 24V / 48V | House loads: navigation systems, lighting, refrigeration, onboard electronics | Designed for stable, long-duration discharge to ensure consistent power throughout the voyage |
| High-Voltage Propulsion Series | Series & parallel configurations | Electric propulsion systems (electric outboards & inboard motors) | High power output to deliver strong thrust for medium- to long-distance cruising |
| Portable Trolling Motor Series | Portable low-voltage systems | Trolling motors for fishing boats | Enhanced sealing against salt spray; rugged, vibration-resistant internal structure |
| Customized Solutions | Custom voltage & size | Specialized vessels and unique installations | Smart BMS integration; flexible design to fit specific cabin spaces, from small fishing boats to mid-sized yachts |

Lithium Marine Battery Manufacturer Specializing in LiFePO4 Technology

Types and Uses of Marine Lithium Batteries
Both CoPow's start-up and deep-cycle marine batteries utilize LiFePO4 technology. In addition, we offer dual-purpose marine batteries.
The CoPow starter battery is primarily used to start a boat's engine. With a cold-cranking current of up to 2,000 A, it ensures you can start your boat reliably even in extremely cold conditions.
CoPow deep-cycle marine batteries are specifically designed for all types of onboard electrical equipment, helping you enjoy your time at sea to the fullest.
Dual-purpose batteries are a compromise between starter batteries and deep-cycle batteries.
FAQ
Do you need a special charger for lithium marine batteries?
Whether you are using lead-acid batteries or lithium-ion batteries, you should always use a dedicated charger for each type and never mix them.
Can I leave my lithium batteries in my boat over the winter?
Whether it’s a lead-acid battery or a lithium battery, we do not recommend leaving the battery on the boat. Aside from the fact that batteries will self-discharge to 0%, the chemicals inside the battery may also be damaged in extremely cold conditions.
It is best to store the battery in a dry place with moderate temperatures and check the remaining charge regularly. If the charge level drops below 20%, the battery should be recharged to at least 50%.
What is the best marine lithium battery?
The best marine battery is, of course, the one that’s right for you—it’s not necessarily the case that the more expensive one is the better.
When choosing a battery, you may want to consider the following factors: capacity, power, cycle life, weight, size, battery management system, cost, and battery technology.
Are lithium batteries suitable for marine use?
I’m sure we all understand that lithium-ion batteries are designed to replace lead-acid batteries. But the question we need to ask is: Are lithium-ion batteries truly suitable for all types of boats?
The answer is yes. Lithium-ion batteries are suitable for a wide range of vessels, including fishing boats, fishing vessels, yachts, sightseeing boats, kayaks, inflatable boats, ferries, sailboats, speedboats, houseboats, workboats, and various types of underwater equipment.
How many lithium marine batteries do I need?
Unlike lead-acid batteries, marine lithium-ion batteries come as a complete battery pack, whereas lead-acid batteries may consist of multiple individual cells.
During actual installation, we typically install one marine starter battery and one marine deep-cycle battery. The starter battery is specifically used for starting the engine, while the deep-cycle battery is responsible for powering the boat’s electrical equipment.
Of course, some people choose to purchase a dual-purpose marine battery as a temporary solution; this approach is suitable for users who use their boat infrequently and wish to save money.
